Social Media Image Sizes 2026: The Complete Cheat Sheet
Instagram posts are 1080x1350 (portrait) or 1080x1080 (square), stories, Reels and TikTok are 1080x1920, YouTube thumbnails are 1280x720, X posts are 1600x900 and LinkedIn posts are 1200x627.
Portrait posts at 1080 by 1350 pixels (4:5) take up the most space in the feed, which is why most creators use them. Square posts are 1080 by 1080 and landscape posts are 1080 by 566.
Stories and Reels use 1080 by 1920 (9:16). Keep text and faces inside the middle area, because the top and bottom are covered by the interface.
Profile pictures display as a circle, so upload a square image of at least 320 by 320 with the face centered.
TikTok
TikTok videos and photo posts are vertical at 1080 by 1920. Profile pictures should be at least 200 by 200, uploaded as a square.
YouTube
Thumbnails are 1280 by 720 pixels (16:9) and must be under 2 MB. Channel banners are 2560 by 1440, but only the middle 1546 by 423 area is visible on every device, so keep your logo and text there.
X (Twitter)
Single image posts look best at 1600 by 900 (16:9). Header images are 1500 by 500 and profile pictures 400 by 400.
LinkedIn and Facebook
LinkedIn shared images work well at 1200 by 627. Facebook feed images are 1080 by 1350 for portrait or 1200 by 630 for links, and cover photos display at 851 by 315 on desktop.
