Resize images to the YouTube thumbnail size (1280 x 720)

YouTube thumbnails are 1280 by 720 pixels and must be under 2 MB. Resize your image to the exact size and download a file that uploads first time.

How it works

How to use YouTube Thumbnail

  1. 01

  2. 02

Check the live preview of how YouTube shows it on every view: Home feed, Up next, and drag the photo to choose what stays in frame.

  3. 03

Download at exactly 1280 x 720, one by one or as a ZIP.

YouTube sizes in 2026

1280 x 720 pixels (16:9), JPG or PNG, under 2 MB. The time stamp covers the bottom right corner, so keep text away from it.

See it before you post

The preview shows your photo inside a mock of YouTube for home feed, up next, including the areas that get covered or cropped, so you can fix the framing before you upload.

Tip

Whole photo with AI fill is on by default, so a vertical or square photo becomes a full 16:9 thumbnail without cropping. Switch to Crop to fill if your photo is already wide.

Resize a whole batch

Drop many photos at once. Each one keeps its own crop position, and you can download them all as a ZIP. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
