AI studio

Extend any image with AI, beyond its edges

Pick a new shape like 16:9, 9:16 or square, move your photo where you want it, and the AI paints the missing edges to blend with the scene. Great for banners, thumbnails and stories when your photo is the wrong shape.

Made possible by open source: inpaint-web, MI-GAN and ONNX Runtime Web. See all credits.

How it works

How to use AI Image Extender

  1. 01

    Drop a photo.

  2. 02

Pick the new shape or add more room, and drag the photo into position.

  3. 03

Tap Extend with AI, then download.

The right shape without cropping

Instead of cutting your photo down to fit a banner or a story, keep all of it and let the AI extend the background around it.

Works best on simple scenes

Skies, walls, water, grass, sand and studio backgrounds extend most naturally. Busy scenes with people or text at the edges can look smeared, so keep the subject away from the edges you extend.

Private by design

The extension runs on your device with an open source model. Your photo is never uploaded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How far can I extend an image?

Up to double the size in each direction. Smaller extensions look the most natural.

How big is the result?

Up to 2400 pixels on the long side, which suits banners, thumbnails and social posts.

Why does the new area look soft on busy photos?

The model rebuilds textures from the surrounding pixels. Plain backgrounds work best; for detailed scenes, extend less or in a few smaller steps.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device.
